The horses that pull Yellow Rose Carriages are draft horses. Breeds include Percheron, Belgian, Clydesdale and Shire. Draft horses are bred for heavy work (although a human of average strength can pull these carriages). Horses are shod with rubber horse shoes to cushion the pavement and are kept at a walk. Water is offered frequently to working horses.
We are very proud of our horses. Horses that work for Yellow Rose Carriages have a complete benefit package that includes days (and more often weeks) at the farm with no responsibilities, room service at the downtown stable including three nutritious meals per day and maid service while they are out on the streets working so their beds are clean and fresh when they return. All horses also have a medical and dental program as well as full retirement plan. Horses that agree to work for Yellow Rose Carriages will never be sold! When ready, they retire to pasture, comfortable shelter and companionship well deserved.
